HYDERABAD: On the outskirts of Hyderabad, unidentified assailants kidnapped and killed a former journalist, police  said on Monday, April 17.

Around two in the morning, some unidentified males dumped a body at a hospital in the Gachibowli district of the city.

He was identified by police as Mamidi Karunakar Reddy (29), who had been abducted on Sunday night from Kottur near Hyderabad after being notified by the hospital's administration.

Karunakar and his companion Sridhar Reddy, according to the police, were driving from Cheguru to Timmapur in a vehicle.

They were stopped by several unknown individuals in a car, and after beating Reddy, they took off with Karunakar.

The police initiated an investigation to find the former journalist after receiving the information.

Even before officials could gather any information, the men fled after leaving the body in the hospital. 
The body was moved to Osmania Hospital for an autopsy after the police opened a case. To track down the people who brought the body, they are looking through hospital CCTV footage.

Reddy said that Karunakar was abducted by family members of Madhusuhan Reddy, a Mandal level public representative from Kottur.

Karunakar had previously worked for a newspaper, the police claimed. Later, he began writing documents close to the Kottur Tehsildar office.

In their land deals, the victim was collaborating with MPP Madhusudhan Reddy and his supporters. He had recently started to disagree with them, though.

According to Karunakar's relatives, Madhusudhan had him killed out of fear that he would reveal his shady land deals. At Kottur, Karunakar's family members organised a demonstration calling for the accused's quick arrest.

Police started a search for Madhusudhan Reddy and four other people after receiving a complaint from the victim's family.
