Indian Politician and Former Speaker (1996-1998) of Lok Sabha Purno Agitok Sangma died due to heart attack on 4th March 2016.  Sangma had also been the Chief Minister of Meghalaya from (1988-1990) is no more now.

According to the report, 68 years old Sangma demised of heart attack at his Delhi residence. Also, he was unsuccessfully contested the presidential election as an opposition candidate against Pranab Mukherjee.

Lok Sabha members of the house and Speaker Sumitra Mahajan condoled the passing away of Sangma and hailed him as a very popular leader.

PA Sangma was born on 1 September 1947 in the village Chapahati in the picturesque West Garo Hills District of the State of Meghalaya in North East India.
