New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari, who was a Union Minister in the UPA government, has given an open warning to his own party amid the election fervour. Tiwari has said that he is a participant in Congress and not a tenant. Tiwari's statement came at a time when there were speculations in the political circles that he was about to resign from the party.
When the journalist asked him that a lot of rumours are soaring about you too. You are such an old Congressman, what do you have to say? So Tiwari said, 'Are there rumours fleeing?' The journalist replied that you too are probably going to join the BJP. On this, Manish Tewari clarified that I have said this thing earlier also that we are not a tenant in Congress, we are a shareholder. However, he also said that if someone throws him out of the party, it will be another matter. Tiwari said that I have given 40 years of my life to this party.
He said, 'Our family has shed blood for the integrity and unity of this country. We believe in ideological politics, but whether someone wants to push us out, is a different matter. Tiwari, one of the G-23 leaders, had also said in a program that he was not leaving the Congress, but was definitely asking for democratic reforms within his party. On the question of saying goodbye to the party like other Congressmen, he said that- 'I will cross the bridge when I will reach there.'
