NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police announced on Monday that it has busted a gang that preyed on young people in the national Capital using the gay dating app "Blued" after apprehending four guys.

An official claims that the gang used to threaten these young people with posting their intimate and naked films on social media in order to extract money from them.

The accused have been identified as Vikas Sharma, 26, a resident of Saboli Extension, Anshu Kumar, 21, a resident of Harsh Vihar, Ashutosh, 23, and Shivam Kumar, 24, also inhabitants of the Ashok Nagar area.

R Sathiyasundaram, the deputy commissioner of police (Shahdara), reports that on November 12, a 20-year-old guy complained that he was at college and had been conversing online with a lad for dating for the previous three to four days.

"They crossed paths at Dominos Durgapuri Chowk on November 8. They both undressed in a secret room after which the victim was brought there. Three further boys entered the room and began filming a video in the meanwhile "the official added.

Next, the accuser threatened the victim and made a demand for cash. In case the demand was not met, they additionally threatened to post the footage on social media.

"The accused snatched the victim's phone and moved the $12,700 that was available into their known account after the victim denied. They ran after stealing the victim's scooter and phone ""DCP," he claimed.

The police squad tracked the mobile phone's location history to Ashok Nagar while conducting their inquiry. After following the path to its conclusion, the team began to examine the CCTV footage of the immediate area.
In the Ashok Nagar area, the victim's scooter was seen parked in front of a home.

"After being apprehended by the police, Shivam confessed that the other three suspects were all present at his house for a party. A police team eventually arrived there and apprehended Vikas, Anshu, and Ashutosh",the officer said.
