India's star table tennis player G Sathiyan has crashed out of the WTT contender Muscat tournament. He was defeated by 16-year-old Lin Shidong of China in the singles event. Sathiyan, ranked 32nd in the world, was defeated 8-11, 13-11, 2-11, 8-11. Two Indian women, Sutirtha Mukherjee and Ayika Mukherjee and Srija Akula and S Selvakumar have reached the medal round in the women's doubles category. In the women's doubles, Sutirtha and Ayika have also got a walkover on The Czech Republic's Dena Blaskova and Katarina Tomanovsk while Srija and Selvakumar have defeated Singapore's Goi Rui Shuan and Won Shin Ru 13-11, 12-10, 6-11, 11-7.

In the women's singles, Manika Batra and Archana Kamath defeated Lin Ye of Singapore and Mo Zhang of Canada to reach 16 respectively. Manika defeated Lin 12-10, 11-8, 11-8. She will now face Romania's Bernadette S, who is ranked 23rd in the world rankings.

Archana defeated her Canadian opponent 11-6, 10-12, 11-8, 11-9. Now he is going to face Mongolia's Xiaoshin Yang. At the same time, Srija Akula has suffered a defeat at the hands of Zia Nan Yuan of France 8-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9, 8-11. According to reports, in the mixed doubles, Manav Thakkar and Archana Kamath have reached the quarter-finals,  defeating Turkey's Abdullah Yijenler and Ozze Yilmaz 11-9, 14-12, 11-2.

Sathiyan and Manika also advanced to the next round as their rival Russian team has not been allowed to play so far. It is worth mentioning that the ITTF has banned Russian players.
