CHENNAI:  In Tiruchi, Tamil Nadu, three persons have been arrested on suspicion of drugging and gang-raping a young girl.

The minor  girl was abducted in April 2021 by Ranganathan from Tiruchi, who is a relative, and taken to a remote location, said the police.

The minor girl was then drugged and gang-raped by Ranganathan and his four friends.The accused repeatedly gang-raped the minor while holding her captive and threatening to go viral with the horrifying act's film.
In between, The 16-year-old girl's parents married her off in , but when child rights activists learned about it, they notified the police. The child was saved and taken to a child welfare facility.

After several disagreements, Ranganathan and his buddies got into a fight, and the girl's video started making the rounds on social media.After learning about the video, the girl's parents complained to the All Women Police station in Musri, Tiruchi.
The police detained Ranganathan, Manikandan, and Ganesh while the two other suspects fled.

According to sources within the Musri police, they are tracing individuals responsible for the girl's maltreatment and are asking more questions of those who have posted this video on social media.

Police said they are looking into whether the girl had been mistreated by other people, but they did not give the identities of the two people they are looking for.
