Patna: court on Wednesday sentenced 9 convicts to life imprisonment in the Sondiha gangrape case in Gaya district of Bihar. The court has also imposed financial penalties on the culprits. The incident took place about three years ago on June 12, 2018. In fact, on June 12, 2018, on a summer afternoon, the doctor's husband and wife, and minor daughter were returning home Gaya from their clinic from the bike. In the meantime, the ambush criminals grabbed the doctor and tied it with a rope in the tree and took his wife and daughter to a secluded place, and gang-raped the wife and daughter in front of the doctor. Where the incident took place was the area of the Sondiha region. The incident had shocked the entire country.

Remembering that dark day, the victim's family still stirs up. But the family did not give up and fought the legal battle for almost three years to punish those who committed this abominable act. After the incident, the local Konch Police Station had started investigating the case. In view of the seriousness of the case, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, the head of the Konch Police Station, and the SSB jawans launched a search operation in the village on the day of the incident with the help of police of other police stations. About one and a half dozen people, including two youths named Shivam, Gaurav, were taken into custody after the operation. The next day of the incident, Deepak Kumar from Mangalore village and a young man from Konch were arrested by the police.

All the convicts involved in the Sondiha gang rape case were sentenced to life imprisonment in the court of Gaya. Sunil Kumar, the lawyer in the case, said that he tried his best to bring the rapists to death, but the accused were sentenced to life imprisonment by the court.
