Chennai: Suspended BJP leader From Tamil Nadu, Gayathri Raghuram, quit the party on Monday. She said she had taken this step because of a lack of respect for women in the BJP. A senior leader, however, dismissed the allegations and said her exit would not cause any harm to the party. The leader said he does not give much importance to her allegations. Gayathri was the head of the cultural wing of the Raghuram Party.  

Gayathri Raghuram also tweeted about her resignation. In a tweet, she also accused a "war room" working for state party chief Annamalai and trolling her. Gayathri Raghuram wrote tagging PM Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the party's national president JP Nadda and National General Secretary BL Santhosh- "I have decided to resign from Tamil Nadu BJP with a heavy heart because women are not given the opportunity to speak, equal rights and respect. Women are not safe under Annamalai's leadership. No one cares about true activists, Annamalai's only goal is to drive away the genuine workers. My best wishes to the BJP."

Gayathri wrote in another tweet, 'Modi Ji you are special, you are the father of the nation, you will always be a Vishwaguru and a great leader in my eyes. Amit Shah ji, you will always be Chanakya in my eyes. In fact, she protested against BJP leader Trichy Suriya's use of unparliamentary language against a female colleague. Thereafter, she was suspended for six months on the charge of indulging in activities that discredit the party. This action was taken against her in November. Earlier Annamalai said, ''Gayathri Raghuram has been continuously involved in illegal activities of the party. For this, she has been suspended from all party posts for six months. Party workers have been asked not to be in contact with Gayathri Raghuram.''
