New Delhi: Amid the scuffle in the Congress, veteran party leader and former Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said on Friday that the party's victory in the upcoming assembly elections is our biggest priority. Wherever I or my colleagues will be invited on behalf of the party or candidate, we will go to the campaign.

Talking to the media, Azad said, ''Congress party's victory is the biggest priority in the upcoming state assembly elections (4 states and 1 union territory). Wherever I will be invited by the party or the candidate, I will go to the campaign.'' Ghulam Nabi Azad, who completed his tenure as a Rajya Sabha member in the past, has been continuously speaking and campaigning on reforms in the Congress on many issues including internal elections.

Ghulam Nabi Azad is an important member of G-23. Just before the assembly elections in Bihar last year, the leaders of the G-23 had written a letter to Sonia Gandhi, demanding the election of the full-time president and organization of the Congress. Amid the thrust of the assembly elections in five states including Bengal, 8 of the G-23 leaders led by Ghulam Nabi Azad met in Jammu and clearly stated that they are with the Congress, but the current situation of the party is not acceptable. However, questions are being raised about the timing of the meeting of the G-23 leaders.
