Srinagar: Everything is not going well even in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Congress. Veteran Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad is set to take out a rally on Thursday following the mass resignation of several former ministers and MLAs on Wednesday evening. The rally will be held at 12:30 pm at Chak Dayala in Kathua. This is being seen as a political test of G-23.

Ghulam Nabi Azad is among the 23 leaders who wrote to Sonia Gandhi in August last year asking her to hold elections for the post of Congress president. Hence, it is called G-23. The group has several veteran Congress leaders including Kapil Sibal. Ghulam Nabi Azad's rally comes at a time when several Jammu and Kashmir Congress leaders have resigned a day earlier. Azad is believed to be trying to put pressure on the party high command through resignations. They are also trying to show their political strength through the rally.

On Wednesday 4 former ministers and 3 former MLAs of Jammu and Kashmir resigned. All the leaders who resign are considered special to Gulam Nabi Azad. The resignations include former ministers GM Saroori, Jugal Kishore, Vikar Rasool and Dr Manohar Lal. Ghulam Nabi Monga, Naresh Gupta and Amin Bhat have also resigned. Rebel MLAs have sent their resignations to the party's president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Jammu and Kashmir in charge Rajni Patil.
