Kochi: Kerala gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh has accused state CM Pinarayi Vijayan of harassing her.  She said that she is trying to bring out the truth, so she is being harassed by the chief minister. "The CM is expected to provide security to the people, but the Chief Minister of Kerala is harassing me. I am fighting to bring out the truth, so it's happening. He can't do that to his daughter. They have to see all of us as their daughters.''

Swapna Suresh further said, "A case of conspiracy has been registered against me, for which the crime branch questioned me. In fact, it's harassment. The investigation team asked me to withdraw from HRDS India and release my lawyer Krishna Raj. It's a threat.'' On July 5, 2020, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs at Thiruvananthapuram airport seized 30 kg of 24-carat gold from a bag, which was to be delivered to the UAE consulate in Thiruvananthapuram. M Sivasankar, principal secretary to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, was suspended and removed from the post after an initial inquiry. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigation has revealed that he had links with Swapna Suresh, one of the accused.

At the same time, Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje targeted the CPM-led LDF government in Kerala over the issue. At the same time, he demanded that CM Pinarayi Vijayan resign from his post and face the probe. Karandlaje said it was for the first time in history that so many heinous allegations have been levelled against a CM and his family in a case of gold smuggling.
