USA: In order to enable seamless file sharing between Android smartphones, tablets, and Chromebooks, Google introduced Nearby Share in 2020. The tech juggernaut has released the feature for Windows three years later.

Currently in beta for Windows, nearby share is accessible. It is available in a few international locations, including India. Here's how to download it to your Windows computer or laptop and use it.

Wireless file transfer from a desktop or laptop to an Android device has never been simple. Either use the in-built Bluetooth or risk the privacy of your data by using third-party apps.

Google's Nearby Share, on the other hand, can assist you in doing that quickly and securely. To send a photo, link, or document from your Windows device to a smartphone, just click "Share" when it is available.

Go to https://android.com/better-together/nearby-share-app/ to access the Nearby Share website. The app is currently in beta testing.

Download Nearby Share Beta to your computer to get going. It works with computers running Windows 64-bit operating systems and higher.

Once the app has been downloaded and set up on your computer or laptop, log into your Google account and customise your "Device Visibility" settings.

Running in the background is Nearby Share. As a result, you are not required to keep it open on your screen. From your computer or laptop, choose "Send with Nearby Share" from the right-click menu to send images, videos, and documents.

The files can also be dropped into the app by drag-and-drop. Choose the Android devices you want to share with from the list of nearby Android devices that appears.

Nearby Share is pre-installed on Android devices running version 6 and up because it is a Google-exclusive feature. As a result, sending files from your smartphone to your Windows PC only requires a few taps and is quick and easy.

In the US, India, and a few other places around the world, Nearby Share for Windows is currently accessible in beta. Only 64-bit Windows 10 and later versions are compatible with the service. There is no support for ARM hardware.

It currently supports sharing content with Android smartphones and tablets on Windows desktop computers and laptops. It will soon be compatible with other devices in the Google ecosystem.
