Bhopal: The Karni Sena movement, which has been going on for the last 4 days in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, has come to an end. After discussions with Madhya Pradesh Cooperation Minister Dr. Arvind Bhadauria, Karni Sena has withdrawn its agitation. 17 demands of Karni Sena have been approved by the government. 17 demands have been approved between the agitators and the government. Dr. Bhadauria was in touch with the agitators for the past three days. The Cabinet Minister has given assurance by forming a committee of one ACS and two PS. The committee will submit its report in two months. Issues related to the state government will be decided.
In Bhopal, the Karni Sena had launched an indefinite agitation since January 8, demanding that 21 demands, including reservation, be accepted on the basis of economic status and not arrested without investigation. Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena's Bhopal president Krishna Bundela said their organization along with other persons from the Rajput community staged the protest. He said five activists, including Karni Sena chief Jiwan Singh Sherpur, have started an indefinite, peaceful fast to insist on their 21 demands.
Bhopal Karni Sena's president said that the workers are demanding that reservation should be done on economic grounds so that the poor of all communities can be benefited. Reservation should be given to a family (one generation) only once. Arrests without investigation under the SC/ST Act should be prevented and a law should also be enacted to protect the interests of the general category. One of the major demands of the movement was that food grains and essential commodities should be exempted from the Goods and Services Tax to control inflation. They said the agitation will continue till their demands are met. After discussions with the administration, the plan to surround the Madhya Pradesh Assembly was changed.
