The state government has announced a dearness allowance for employees working in state corporations as their new gift. According to the different pay scales applicable in corporations, dearness allowance will be paid to the employees from 12 to 345 percent. The Department of Public Enterprises has issued a mandate for increased dearness allowance. However, the government will not provide any financial help for these allowances.
According to the media report, the state government has given 12 percent of basic pay to those getting revised salary in corporations from January 2016, 154 percent to those getting revised salary since January 2006, 50 percent dearness allowance in 2009 despite salary not being revised after 1996. 295 percent for those who converted in salary and 345 percent for those who did not get this change, while in earlier cases 337 percent dearness allowance was issued. Any allowance will be given only to those corporations, where the corporation will be able to its costs.
The corporations that have been decided to close, will not be paid at the increased rate there. The allowance of the increased rate will be given only to corporations where EPF, pension contribution or income tax will not be pending. Under these conditions, an approval proposal has been sought from the board of corporations to assess the financial capacity of corporations. The committee of the Department of Public Enterprises will decide the payment of allowances on the basis of these proposals and the status of cash benefits in the balance sheet audited by the Chartered Accountant.
