Dehradun: Illegal tombs and graves built on forest land in the Dehradun and Pauri districts of Uttarakhand have been demolished. Before taking action, the forest department identified 15 tombs and graves built illegally. Later all these were demolished. This action was taken as soon as the instructions of the state government were received.

The mausoleum built on the land of the District Forest Department in Pauri has also been removed. This is the tomb of the same Peer Baba, for which Pauri MLA Ramkumar Pori had sanctioned an amount of two lakhs from the MLA's fund for the construction of a tin shed. But, this decision of the MLA was strongly opposed by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad who demanded the removal of the tomb. It was also said that if the tomb is not removed, the council will launch a big agitation. The Dehradun Kazi issued a statement on this action of the Forest Department. He said that Islam does not allow anyone to build a grave or a tomb in a public place.

At the same time, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami said in this matter that any kind of encroachment will not be tolerated in the state. Uttarakhand Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal said that data is being collected of those places where graves and tombs have been built illegally. One by one all those places will be made encroachment free. For information, let us tell you that a video purporting to be of Dehradun had gone viral on social media in the past. In the video, there was a crowd of people in front of the tomb. The people making the video were quarreling with the people present at the Mazar. There is a lot of verbal war going on between everyone. The makers of the video say that the land has been encroached upon by making a tomb.
