The deadline for submitting applications under the production-lined incentive scheme for specialty steel was extended for the third time on Monday, this time until June 30, 2022.
Only ten applications have been received so far from players interested in investing in the Rs 6,322-crore plan, which was launched last July. The deadline for producers to apply for advantages under the PLI (ProductionLinked Incentive) scheme for speciality steel was originally March 29. Later, it was extended until April 30, 2022, and then again until May 31, 2022.
Last week it was reported that the government is considering extending the deadline for submitting applications under the PLI scheme with a few changes, including no minimum investment cap and the establishment of minimum capacity for secondary players, as well as a uniform incentive on the production of specialty steel. The most recent extension, on the other hand, came with no changes.
