Govt rains gifts on New Year's Day, common man to get huge benefits

Dehradun: The state government has showered gifts for several categories on New Year's Day before the upcoming assembly elections. The treatment, which is going to be 10 per cent costlier in government hospitals today (on the first day of the New Year), has given relief to the people of the state for the time being. The Cabinet has banned the order to increase services in government hospitals by 10 per cent. Now, people will not have to pay much on OPD slips, ultrasound, X-rays, ECG, blood tests, etc.

State government official spokesperson Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal said 25 proposals were decided in a cabinet meeting chaired by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday. The Cabinet has authorized CM Pushkar Singh Dhami to take a decision on seven proposals. The Cabinet has increased the pension of eligible elderly and widows of social welfare pension scheme from Rs.1200 per month to Rs.1400. This will benefit 466708 old age and 181238 widow pensioners in the state. At the same time, both the elderly husband and wife will be eligible for pension, so far only one of the elderly spouses is being given pension.

With this, exercise teachers will be posted in all government colleges and 95 development blocks (one intermediate college each) in the State. These exercises will be placed in 214 posts from teachers outsourced. The Cabinet has allowed appointment of guest teachers at Rs.35,000/- per month for conducting new PG classes in degree colleges. The right to appoint them has been given to the Principals. At the same time, permission has been given to set up District Tourism Committees. The committee headed by the collector will allow proposals up to Rs 10 lakh. A revolving fund will be created at the district level.
