New Delhi: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will chair a three-day Health Summit being hosted at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat's Kevadia from May 5 to 7.
There will be a detailed discussion on India's fight against COVID and the Centre's initiative viz "Heal by India and Heal in India" which has been a major focus of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government. The meeting will be attended by the Health Ministers of all states and Union Territories.
According to sources familiar with the matter, an overall investigation has been conducted to see how certain states were able to keep Covid levels under control while also increasing immunisation efforts. "The main point of the summit is to share these best practises with other states," sources said. Each state and Union territory will give a three-minute presentation on their experiences coping with the pandemic, followed by a brief address by the various Health Ministers. Another major goal will be to persuade states to invest more in national health infrastructure, as the budgets allotted to states and UTs are frequently underutilised.
The three-day summit's agenda will include an emphasis on attracting investment in health facilities, as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent launch of the 'Heal by India' campaign.
