Ahmedabad: Heavy rains in several districts of Gujarat over the past few days have triggered a flood situation. Yes, and there has been heavy rainfall in many other districts including Valsad, Navsari, and Tapi. In Gujarat, a flood-like situation has reportedly occurred in different parts of Nadiad in the Kheda district. In fact, along with the continuous rain here, waterlogging was also seen in Ahmedabad, Paldi, Bodakdev, Usmanpura and Jodhpur. Let us tell you that Ahmedabad has received 30 per cent of the season's rainfall in the last three days. On the other hand, amid heavy rains, Gujarat Disaster Management Minister Rajendra Trivedi said that the state government has made arrangements to evacuate people living in low-lying areas to safer places.
In view of the prevailing situation, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on Monday decided to keep schools and colleges in the city closed. Apart from this, a part of a bridge also collapsed due to continuous heavy rains in Chhota Udepur on Sunday. Another news report also said that rescue operations are on amid the floods and so far about 1500 people have been evacuated to safer places. In fact, at present, the water level of the rivers has increased due to heavy rains in the Navsari district of Gujarat.
Cauvery and Ambika rivers are flowing above the danger mark in the Navsari district. At the same time, district collector Amit Prakash Yadav said that people are being evacuated from low-lying areas. So far, more than 300 people have been evacuated to safer places and the operation is underway with the help of a company of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Several teams of NDRF and local administration carried out rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected areas. In Ahmedabad, schools and colleges have been closed.
