Ahmedabad: The BJP government in Gujarat may soon enact a law to recover the damage caused to the government or private property by the rioters. There is a preparation to introduce the law related to this through the chapter country. After this, in the future, the government will pass it in the form of a bill in the assembly. BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have already implemented such a law, under which damages caused to the government or private property are compensated. The name of this proposed law may be Gujarat Recovery of Damages of Public and Private Properties.
A source in the state home ministry has informed that states like UP and MP have made strict laws for rioters who damage government property. The Gujarat government has studied these laws and decided to implement similar legal provisions in itself. He said that soon an ordinance will be brought in this regard, in which there will be a provision to recover double or three times the damages from the rioters who cause damage to the government or private property.
If the rioter is unable to make up for the damage, his property can be seized or auctioned, the source said. Along with this, the provision of sending the rioter to jail will also be included. Like other laws, there will be tribunals and special courts to determine whether a case is covered under the proposed law. There will also be a provision in the proposed law that the person whose property has been damaged can claim compensation for it.
