Gully Cricket meet: Ex-Indian cricketers to interact with players

CHANDIGARH: On April 20, during the quarterfinal of the Allengers Gully Cricket Tournament, which got underway on Wednesday, legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev will be seen playing cricket on his home turf here.

The UT Cricket Association and Chandigarh Police are in charge of organising the competition. On Wednesday, the competition jersey was presented.

The competition got underway in Sector 16's famous cricket stadium, where Kapil Dev, Yuvraj Singh, and Harbhajan Singh call home.
Ten playgrounds around the city will host the morning and evening tournaments. The competition will be a knockout format with a tennis ball and 10-10 overs per inning.

Tandon said the focus of the event is to bring youth towards sports that help keep away from the drugs.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kanwardeep Kaur, the tournament, for which they have made meticulous preparations, will be a "memorable" occasion for the participating players.

She stated that all players would be welcomed with performances by the Chandigarh Police band. In order to reduce the players' travel time, venues close to the teams have been chosen, and the Chandigarh Police has also agreed to transport the teams.
