GURUGRAM: Twenty-eight people were admitted to the hospital after being ill after drinking a spurious soft drink at a "Buddo Mata Temple" event in Mubarikpur, Gurugram.

Adults and children consumed spurious soft drinks on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, and shortly after began to feel nauseous and vomit. They were taken to a civil hospital in Gurugram, where their condition is stated to be stable after first treatment, according to police.

Devotee Sushil, a Delhi resident, filed a complaint in connection with the incident. He admitted to the police that he and his family had gone to the 'Buddo Mata Temple' on Tuesday night.

"At the fair, a 30-year-old man approached us and gave free soft drink in a glass, which was consumed by my nephew Riya and my brother's wife Monica, and the duo's condition deteriorated after half an hour. We rushed them to the hospital for treatment right away "Sushil informed the authorities.

The complainant also said that the temple administration failed to take adequate safety precautions for pilgrims. They didn't even put up security cameras around the building and in the neighbouring areas.  Several patients, including children who were brought to the civil hospital, complained of tiredness and vomiting, according to a doctor at the civil hospital.
