This fast is done for the longevity and prosperity of sons. The women who observe this fast-fill five or seven roasted grains or nuts in six small clay or sugar pots according to each of their sons. It is said that one should wake up early in the morning and have a bath. After that, the fast should be observed. Then, after worship, you should do pooja-aarti in the evening. By doing this fast, you get wealth, opulence etc.

In this fast, a branch of small thorn bush, a branch of Palash and a branch of Nari (a type of creeper) are buried in the ground or in a clay pot. On this day, women end their fast by eating curd and Mahuva (dried flowers) of Palash leaves. With this, it is said that cow's milk and curd should not be eaten on this day. Apart from this, eating grains and vegetables has a different significance of its own. This fast should be kept wisely by women.
