For an effective surveillance in the Hampi heritage site, the authorities are planning to increase the numbers of CCTVs. The Tourism is reviving back to the Hampi and hence authorities are planning to increase vigilance to protect the monuments. At present, 100 guards and 20 CCTVs at various locations and monuments are guarding the site.

A separate police outpost for Hampi with a small team to look after the law and order situation was made. Officials from the Hampi World Heritage Area Management Authority (HWHAMA) said that a proposal for the additional CCTV cameras was sent few months ago in an idea to cover Hampi and its monuments from all directions. This ensures no damage to the monuments. The unruly tourists have tried to damage several stone pillars and monuments was seen recent times.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has prohibited the drones to fly near the monuments. Under such conditions, CCTV will add support to the protection. INR 20 lakh has been spent on procurement and installation of the high quality CCTV cameras. But the locals warns the additional CCTV may cause harm to the natural beauty of Hampi.
