India's star tennis player Rohan Bopanna is celebrating his 40th birthday today. Bopanna was born on 4 March 1980, who has made India proud for his performance many times. He was very fond of tennis ever since he was 11 years old. He started playing tennis at the age of 11. His father wanted him to pursue a career in different sports. However, by the age of 19, Bopanna made tennis his career. His father MG Bopanna is a coffee planter and his mother Malik Bopanna is a housewife.

Rohan Bopanna completed his college studies from Shri Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain College. He made his Davis Cup debut in September 2002 against Australia. After this, he made himself recognized in the world as India's best doubles player in the 2007 Hopman Cup. Rohan Bopanna, along with Eric Butorac, won the first ATP doubles title of his tennis career at the 2008 Countrywide Classic in Los Angeles. At the 2010 US Open, Bopanna made it to the final of the Grand Slam tournament for the first time.

Rohan Bopanna has been awarded with many honors. He was nominated in 2010 as Champion for Peace by the Monaco-based Peace Organization and Peace, for his efforts in overcoming political obstacles through sports. Bopanna was awarded the famous Arthur Asi Humanitarian Award along with Qureshi in 2010. Bopanna has also been awarded Eklavya Award by the Government of Karnataka. He also donates money to many charities and he is also a member of the 'Champions for Peace' club.
