The condition of India's great footballer PK Banerjee, who has been struggling with a chest infection for the past one month, has become critical. He is placed on ventilators (lifesaving system). The family has come to know that he has been put on a ventilator on the last Monday i.e. on the evening of 2 March 2020 and doctors have given antibiotics. His situation is critical.

He had also previously represented the country in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics and was instrumental in the 4–2 win against the hosts in the quarter-finals.
