Sharad Arvind Bobde (born 24 April 1956)  Is an Indian Judge serving as the 47th and Former Chief Justice of India.He is a Former Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. He has also served the Chancellor of Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai; University of Delhi And Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur.

Chief Justice of India is the Head of the Supreme Court of India, which is the Apex court in India. The Chief Justice of India is responsible for the allocation of cases and appointment of the constitutional benches which deal with the important matters of the law of India The 50th and Current Chief Justice of India is Justice Dhananjaya.Y. Chandarchud who took his oath on 9th November 2022.

Former Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde became the 47th Chief Justice of India in 2019. His tenure ended in April 2021. In his tenure, he came to be known for some of the landmark judgments that took place, including the Ayodhya case in 2019. Bobde was part of a bench of 5 judges who delivered judgment in the politically sensitive Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case. 

 Bobde belongs to a Maharashtrian family from Nagpur. His great-grandfather Ramchandra Pant Bobde, a Deshastha Rigvedic Brahmin was a famous lawyer in Chandrapur (then Chanda) between 1880 and 1900. The family later moved to Nagpur. His grandfather Srinivas Ramchandra Bobde was also a lawyer. Bobde's father Arvind Srinivas Bobde was the Advocate General of Maharashtra in 1980 and 1985. Bobde's elder brother Late Vinod Arvind Bobde was a senior Supreme Court lawyer and constitutional expert.

He enrolled as an advocate on 13 September 1978, practiced at the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court with principal seat at Bombay and appeared before the Supreme Court of India and became Senior Advocate in 1998. He was elevated to Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on 16 October 2012 before being elevated as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 12 April 2013, before being elevated as a Judge of the Bombay High Court on 29 March 2000 and later on 12 April 2013.
