New Delhi: 1.35 crore people residing in illegal settlements of Delhi, the capital of the country, will now get the ownership of their house, because in the Rajya Sabha of Parliament, the second bill of laws (special provisions) of National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCR), 2021 is passed. The person living in the house will be entitled to own it. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri said in the Upper House that tenders have been issued for the 'Where Slum-There Houses' scheme.

Hardeep Puri said after the amendment to the National Capital Territory of Delhi's National Capital Territory Laws (Special Procedures) Second Act, 2020 approved in the Upper House that it will not only improve the standard of living of Delhi's population of 1.35 crore but also the Central Vista Project Delhi will also join the best capitals of the world. He said that 1.35 crore people are expected to join the census next year.

President Ram Nath Kovind announced to implement this Act on December 30, 2020, and through this, the Second Act of Delhi National Capital Territory (Special Statutes) Act, 2011 was amended. This Act of 2011 was valid till 31 December 2020. With this act, its time limit has been increased to 31 December 2023.
