Chandigarh: A Mahapanchayat was convened on Thursday in Manesar, Haryana, on behalf of villagers and Hindu organisations, demanding a 50 per cent reservation for Hindus in pharma company Hamdard Laboratories. Those present in the panchayat accused the Unani Pharma company of favouritism in providing employment and said that Hindus are not given opportunities. Those present in the panchayat alleged that the factory was built only on the land acquired from Hindu farmers and it had also secured all the exemptions from the government in the name of the trust. Even after this, no local Hindu man got any job.

Not only this but after the panchayat, a memorandum has also been given to the local administration regarding this demand. The memorandum says that if the demand for 50 per cent reservation is not met, then we will close the factory itself. According to media reports, Ramavatar, the former sarpanch of Manesar, who was present in the panchayat, has said, "It was the farmers of Manesar who gave their land to these factories to be set up. Hamdard vacancy comes out and if a local person applies while he is eligible, he is never given an opportunity. We want the administration to go to the factory itself and see that no Hindu person works here.''

Another local, Devinder, said, "We want to investigate the way people are recruited in the company and their profiles. Manesar DCP Mahavir Singh said that after the Mahapanchayat, law and order are fully in order in the area and the police are trying to ensure that there is peace in the area.'' Let us know that the Haryana government had also announced 75 per cent reservation in the jobs of private institutions to the people of the state in the past. Some companies also objected to it.
