Indian cricketer team speedster Mohammed Shami's wife Hasin Jahan lodged a written complaint with the police against his husband, alleging domestic violence and unfaithfulness. Hasin submitted a written complaint to Kolkata Police Joint CP (Crime) Praveen Tripathi who said that it would be treated as an FIR against the cricketer.

"We have received a complaint from the Mohammed Shami's wife (Hasin Jahan) where she has alleged physical and mental torture by him. We are yet to decide on which sections a case can be started," Praveen Tripathi. After meeting Tripathi, Hasin said she has described her experience to him and the officer promised proper action in the case.

"I have met the officer and told him everything about how I have been tortured by Shami. I have also told him about his multiple sexual partners despite being married to me," Hasin said. Mohammed Shami in posts on his Facebook page and Twitter handle, had claimed that the news was fake and a conspiracy to defame his cricket career. BCCI supervisory committee said the allegations, made by Shami's wife, Hasin Jahan, had put them in a difficult position. She has made public a series of messages that Shami allegedly sent to women during their four-year marriage and accused the cricketer, whom she married in 2014, of domestic violence.
