Washington - Leaders and negotiators around the world are praising the Glasgow climate agreement as a good agreement to maintain the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, but many scientists doubt whether the goal will be sustained. Talking about the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius since pre-industrial times, UN climate chief Patricia Espinosa has told the media that 'if we look at the big picture, I think we have a good plan to make the target of 1.5 degrees Celsius possible'.

The agreement was signed between nearly 200 countries around the world late on Saturday night, recognizing India's suggestion to phase down the use of fossil fuels instead of phased out. British PM Boris Johnson has lauded the agreement at the end of the COP26 Climate Conference here, calling it a "big step forward" and the first international agreement to "reduce" coal use.

Roadmap to reduce global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius: Continuing his point, Boris Johnson said, 'There is still a lot to be done in the next few years. But today's agreement is a big step. This is the first international agreement to reduce the use of coal in a phased manner. It is also a roadmap to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius'. But many scientists also suspect the goal to persist. He says that it is better to forget the target of 1.5 degrees Celsius. Earth is moving towards rising temperatures above 2 degrees Celsius.
