London: Sheikh Mohammad Al-Issa, the secretary general of the Muslim World League, met with Pope Francis on Saturday at the Vatican's Saint Martha House, according to the group.

The civilizational alliance and a number of other topics were discussed by the two sides, it was added.

After the meeting, Alissa expressed his satisfaction with the sincere, kinship-focused conversation he had with Pope Francis at his home.

"We discussed our shared values and building bridges between civilizations based on effective and sustainable initiatives," he continued. "I value Pope Francis' gracious hospitality and high ideals.

After cancelling his regular appointments on Friday due to a fever, Pope Francis resumed them on Saturday and held a number of private meetings.
