Shimla: Himachal Pradesh has been experiencing heavy rains for the past several days. That has caused havoc. From floods to landslides, incidents are taking place. Due to this reason, the tourism industry has been badly affected. Tourists have also canceled their bookings for Kullu-Manali. Many hotels in tourist town Manali have locks and staff have been sent on leave. The condition of the roads in the valley is also grim. Though the weather in the valley has been opened for the past few days, tourists are reluctant to visit Kullu-Manali.
These days, Kullu-Manali and Manikarn valley swell by only ten percent of the tourists. Volvo buses are not reaching Manikarn with Manali. Tourist spots of Manikarn, Kasol, Bijli Mahadev, Banjar and Jalodi Pass, including Manali, have been reported. Most of the hotels are losing money due to empty rooms.
The huge decline in the number of tourists has disappointed the tourism business. Hoteliers Nathu Ram Rana, Tek Chand Thakur, Nihal Thakur, Rakesh Sharma, Manikarn's Mohd Singh Thakur, Kishan Thakur, Banjar's Tek Singh, Raju and Jalodi Pass, tourist practitioners Devraj and Pratap Singh said that the number of tourists has been on the lookout for the past one week. Rooms in hotels are empty.
Vivek Kapoor, manager of Hotel Apple Country, Satish Chauhan, manager of Hotel Pikadali, Vinpi Bakshi, owner of Hotel Snow Valley Resort, said that online bookings are not taking place. Many tourists have canceled the booking. Head of The Snow Zonal Taxi Operator Union, Gupta Ram said, the silence on Manali Malrod without tourists has been felt. Several states are reeling under severe flood due to heavy rains across the country over the past several days.
