Heavy rainfall causes floods in many villages of Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Rains have caused havoc in many regions of the country. Apart from Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, there are heavy rains in many areas of Gujarat. At the same time, an alert has been issued in ten states of the country today (September 10) about the strong rains. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rains today, in the states of Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya as well as East Rajasthan, West Bengal, Konkan, Goa, South Karnataka and all the regions of North East.

At the same time, Tapi river has been flooded due to release of 1.27 lakh cusecs of water from Surat Ukai Dame of Gujarat. The bridge over the river broke down due to flooding in Velavi village of Umarpada. In the same year, a bridge built by spending lakhs of rupees could not bear the brunt of the flood and got swept away in the water. The connection of 40 villages of both talukas has been severed due to the breaking of this bridge connecting Umarpada taluka to Dadiapada taluka.

The water level of the Narmada River on the Golden Bridge of Bharuch district is continuously increasing. The water level of the Narmada river is expected to reach 30 feet. More than 1500 people have been evacuated by the administration. An alert has also been issued in the villages along with the coastal areas of Bharuch, Ankleshwar, and Jhadia.
