Here's Why Former Telangana Deputy CM Thatikonda Rajaiah Resigns from BRS

Telangana's political landscape witnessed a significant development as former deputy chief minister and MLA Thatikonda Rajaiah resigned from the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Rajaiah, who previously represented Station Ghanpur constituency, cited a lack of responsiveness within the party leadership as the reason for his resignation. This move is considered a setback for the BRS as it gears up for the general elections. Ghanpur, one of the constituencies in the Jangaon district, falls under the Warangal Lok Sabha constituency.

The BRS had fielded Kadiyam Srihari, a senior leader and former Deputy CM, from the Ghanpur seat in the 2023 assembly elections, replacing Thatikonda Rajaiah. Speculation suggests that this decision might have prompted Rajaiah's resignation from the party. Meanwhile, the Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to convene a state-level meeting on February 2 to discuss strategies for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, who also serves as the Telangana BJP chief, expressed optimism about the party's performance, hoping to secure double-digit Lok Sabha seats in the state.

The resignation of the BRS leader poses a challenge for the party as it readies itself for the imminent general elections. Ghanpur, one of Jangaon district's three constituencies, falls under the Warangal Lok Sabha constituency. In the 2023 assembly polls, BRS replaced Thatikonda Rajaiah with senior leader and former Deputy CM Kadiyam Srihari for the Ghanpur seat, possibly leading to Rajaiah's resignation, according to sources. Meanwhile, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy announced that the BJP's Telangana unit will convene a state-level meeting on February 2 to discuss preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
