Chennai: On Tuesday, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court heard a petition. Due to this, the High Court said that government employees should not be allowed to use mobile phones for personal use due to their office hours. At the same time, the court said that using the phone in the office is not a good thing.

Actually, a petition was filed by an officer of the Health Department. An order of suspension was issued against him for using mobile phone in the office. In the petition, the government officer had requested for the suspension of this order. The High Court bench heard this.

Judge SM Subramaniam, while refusing to go into the depths of the case, observed that it has now become normal for government employees to use mobile phones for their personal use during working hours and it is not a good habit. The court has directed the state government to make rules in this regard and initiate action against the government employees who violate it. Along with this, the state government has also been directed to file a detailed report on the proposed regulation within the next 4 weeks.
