Mumbai: A bench of Bombay High Court Chief Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice GS Kulkarni has told the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation that our concern is for how many years you will collect tolls. Have you not recovered the construction cost? ' This question was raised during the hearing of four petitions filed by the bench in 2019. A PIL was filed in 2020, stating that the toll collection officer was given to Mahiskar Infrastructure Private Limited for 15 years, which was till 2004.

It has been told in the petition that in 15 years, the revenue collected from toll was Rs 4 thousand 330 crores. However, the actual revenue collection is being estimated at 6 thousand 773 crores. Even after this, the toll collection process has been continued by the company. The PIL claimed that the toll collected by the company after August 10, 2019 should be declared illegal. Advocate Prashant Chavan, on behalf of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), argued that the expenditure on maintenance and expansion of the highway was increased, due to which the collection of toll collection was increased for the company in the year 2030.

The counsel of the petitioners, Pravin Wategaonkar said that the total revenue of the highway cost has been recovered. Praveen Wategaonkar, Sanjay Shirodkar, Vivek Velankar and Srinivas Ghanekar said that about 49% of the cost of the expressway project is to be recovered from the commercial use of the land adjacent to the road, which the state government has given to MSRDC.
