Karnataka: The hearing of the petitions on the hijab issue was extended until February 14 by a three-judge bench in the Karnataka high court on Thursday. The court stated that it will issue an order requiring the reopening of colleges while also requesting that students refrain from displaying religious symbols until the case is resolved.

The justices stated that the state's peace and quiet must be restored. Later, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai stated that the state's schools and institutions will be reopened in stages.  The bench, which includes Karnataka high court Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Justice Krishna S. Dixit, and Justice J.M. Khazi, is hearing petitions challenging the state government's dress code law in schools. The court asked the media to hold off on reporting on the oral observations until the final order was issued.

We are prepared to make a decision as soon as possible. However, we believe that calm and peace should be restored. You should not insist on wearing these holy clothing that are inconvenient until the decision is made," According to Chief Justice Awasthi.

The petitioners' attorneys, on the other hand, objected to the interim restraining order. "Our rights will be suspended as a result of this... "We are urged to pick between food and water, yet both are necessary," argued senior counsel Devadatt Kamath, who was representing the petitioners. The CJ asked the petitioners to comply, stating it would only take a few days. "We cannot be asked to suspend our beliefs for a few days," senior advocate Sanjay Hegde responded.
