The Himachal Pradesh government cancelled the Matriculation board examinations amid the surge of cases and shortage of medical supplies. The government further decided giving a major relief to the Class 10 students to promote 1,16,954 lakh students to Plus one.
In a statement by spokesperson of government said “The decision has been taken due to the sharp surge of Covid-19 cases in the state. It was also decided in the meeting that the annual examination of 10th standard of Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education would stand cancelled. All the students would be promoted to Class 11 by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education as per the norms suggested by CBSE. While 12th standard examination of HPBSE and annual examination of colleges would remain suspended till further orders. However, students of 10th grade will be promoted on the basis of marks of internal and pre-board examinations of the first and second term. The CBSE pattern for promoting students is not yet finalized. But they have asked the schools for information on year-long assignments and project work. A format has been sent to all the concerned schools in which detailed information has been asked from all the schools about the assignment, project work done during the year. Based on these results, students will be promoted to the next class.
The Ministry of Education has said that the result of Class 10 will be released in an alternative method prepared by CBSE. Also, all the educational institutions in Himachal Pradesh will remain closed till May 31. The decision to open offices will be taken after reviewing the current situation.
