Shimla: Uranium residues have been found at various places in Kunah and Pung Khad (small river), about 10 km from Hamirpur district headquarters in Himachal Pradesh. The report of which has been submitted to the higher officials of the Atomic Minerals Directorate of Exploration and Research has been submitted by the outsourced company carrying out the excavation. A few years ago, in 2013, uranium residues were also found during excavations in Lambihara village of gram panchayat Khyah. In fact, amidst the Covid period, the directorate had carried forward the excavation work from the outsourced company.

During this time these remains have been found. It was 15 to 20 kilometres between Kunah and Pung. Kunah and Pung khad pass through the villages of Nali, Neri and Nara. It is worth mentioning that the Directorate has conducted the survey earlier. The survey has also confirmed uranium at 11 different places in the state. State geologist Punit Guleria has said that the sources of uranium are being found everywhere in the whole of Himachal Pradesh. But these are not in such a quantity that they can be used in business. Economically, it doesn't have much importance either.

It has been reported that uranium has also been confirmed to have been found in the hills of Una, Rampur, Mandi and Kullu in Shimla. Himachal is one of the 11 states in the country, including Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand and Meghalaya, where uranium reserves have been found. But these places have not yet been listed.
