SHIMLA: In a bid to revolutionize the dairy industry, the Himachal Pradesh government has partnered with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to establish an advanced milk processing plant in the picturesque Kangra district. This collaborative venture aims to leverage the expertise of NDDB and set up a state-of-the-art facility that not only facilitates milk processing but also focuses on producing high-quality milk products. With an estimated investment of Rs 250 crore, the plant is poised to play a pivotal role in uplifting the rural economy while fulfilling the government's commitment to support local farmers.
Plant Capacity and Product Range: Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu, the proposed milk processing plant in Dagwar will have a commendable capacity ranging from one lakh to three lakh liters. This facility will not only process milk but also manufacture a diverse range of premium milk products. By employing cutting-edge technology and stringent quality control measures, the plant will ensure that consumers receive only the finest dairy products that meet international standards. From fresh and nutritious milk to value-added products, the plant will cater to the diverse preferences of consumers.
The government, as part of its comprehensive agenda, aims to empower farmers by providing them with fair compensation for their produce. In line with their commitment, the Congress party, through its 'Pratigyapatra,' has pledged to purchase cow's milk from farmers at Rs 80 per liter and buffalo's milk at Rs 100 per liter. By setting up this state-of-the-art milk processing plant, the government is taking tangible steps toward fulfilling this promise. The initiative will not only provide a stable market for the farmers' milk but also generate employment opportunities and foster socio-economic growth in Kangra, Hamirpur, Una, and Chamba districts.
Recognizing the environmental concerns associated with plastic packaging, the Chief Minister has emphasized the government's commitment to eco-friendly practices. The packaging of dairy products will be devoid of plastic materials to safeguard the pristine climate and air quality of Himachal. In this regard, the government will actively explore alternatives to plastic packaging.
