Shimla-Himachal Pradesh: In a bid to enhance administrative efficiency and minimize in-person interactions, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, has given directives to implement the 'One State-One Portal' digital system. This innovative initiative aims to consolidate all services provided by Urban Local Bodies into an online platform.

By bringing essential services such as property tax, bill payments, notices, and various permits online, the Chief Minister seeks to not only provide prompt and convenient services to the public but also combat corruption within the system. A key aspect of this digital transformation is the adoption of an online platform for calculating and collecting property tax across all Urban Local Bodies.

Furthermore, CM Sukhu emphasized the need to streamline operations by developing a fully automated online building permission system. In collaboration with the Department of Digital Technology and Governance, this system will cover all 61 Urban Local Bodies, 35 notified SADA areas, and 56 Planning Areas in the state. By incorporating auto scrutiny features, it will facilitate real-time scrutiny of building drawings, ensuring efficiency and accuracy throughout the approval process. The new system will enable applicants to upload their documents and applications, simplifying the issuance of permissions and notices.

CM Sukhu also stressed the importance of minimizing redundant objections and encouraged a more streamlined approach. Additionally, he directed the adoption of digital technology in account keeping to modernize the functioning of Urban Local Bodies. These initiatives reflect a commitment to efficient governance and citizen-centric service delivery by incorporating modern technologies and streamlining services across government departments and Urban Local Bodies.

During the meeting, CM Sukhu addressed the issue of water supply scarcity in areas under the jurisdiction of the Shimla Municipal Corporation. Immediate action was directed to restore water supply schemes affected by floods and treat turbidity in-situ. To address the problem of silting, the construction of a dam on the Giri River was proposed, with the Power Corporation tasked to prepare the dam's design. Furthermore, the repair of the water tank in Seog, which has a storage capacity of nine MLD, was also directed. These measures will alleviate the water supply problem in Shimla town.
