HUBBALLI: Hindu organisations have said that they will not permit the Tipu Jayanti event to take place at Hubballi's Idgah Maidan.

Pramod Muthalik, the founder of the Sri Rama Sena, questioned how the city corporation could grant permission since the state government had already outlawed the Tipu Jayanti event. He said that the action was motivated by political considerations.

The Hubballi-Dharwad City Corporation has authorised the celebration of Tipu Jaynati on November 10th. AIMIM requested permission, and celebrations on a huge scale were being planned.

Pramod Muthalik added that he was against the Tipu Jayanti celebrations taking place on the grounds of Rani Chennamma Grounds, also known as Idgah Maidan. He said that since Tipu Sultan was a religious fanatic, no one would be allowed to commemorate his birthday anywhere in the state.

He repeated, "We won't allow the celebration to take place; we'll stop it under any circumstances.

When the Sri Rama Sena workers sought to hold a protest in Hubballi near the Rani Chennamma circle, the police apprehended them. The demonstration was planned to oppose the local government's decision to approve Tipu Jayanti celebrations.

Pramod Muthalik said, "Tipu is an enemy of Hindus and Kannada language. He cannnot be equated with great personalities who were martyred for the freedom fight. He is a traitor. You celebrate anyone's Jayanti, but not Tipu's."
The Sri Rama Sena rejects the Hubballi-Dharwad City Corporation's decision to commemorate Tipu Jayanti, which he repeated as being incorrect.
