New Delhi: A Varanasi district court has rejected a plea seeking carbon dating of a 'Shivling' found in the disputed Gyanvapi complex. After this, the Hindu side decided to go to the Supreme Court with this demand. Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi, counsel for the Hindu side, has said that we will go to the apex court and appeal. In fact, a survey of the Gyanvapi complex was conducted on the orders of the Varanasi court.

During this time, the Hindu side had claimed to have found a Shivling in Gyanvapi, while the Muslim side was calling it a fountain. Therefore, to find out the truth, the Hindu side had asked the court to do carbon dating of the structure, so that it could be clear how old the figure found in the Gyanvapi complex was and it would have been clear whether it was a Shivling or a fountain as claimed by the Muslim side. The Muslim side had been opposing carbon dating from the beginning. However, the Varanasi court has refused to allow carbon dating of the Shivling, rejecting the demand of the Hindu side. Now the question has become a puzzle again, what is the structure found in Gyanvapi?

In such a situation, the Hindu side has now decided to go to the Supreme Court in this matter. Advocate Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi, appearing for the Hindu side, said that demand will be made to the apex court in this regard and a request will be made to conduct carbon dating of the Shivling so that the actual age of the Shivling can be known.
