Jalandhar, While walking on burning embers as part of a ritual on the occasion of the annual Mata Meeriamma fair at Kazi mandi area, six year old boy and his father suffered burn injuries as a result of lost balance.

During the annual Mata Meeriamma fair at Kazi mandi area here it is a tradition among the people to walk on burning embers spread 20 feet in length to conciliate the deity.

The incident occurred last night when Raja, while carrying his son Karthik, was walking on the burning embers.

The onlookers rushed to their rescue and took them to a hospital.

"I have provided them a financial assistance of Rs 10,000 and sent them to Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS)", said Local BJP MLA Manoranjan Kalia.

He further added that "While Raja has suffered 20 % burn injuries, Kartik has suffered 20-25 %burn injuries".
