The sporting team in India is all preparing for the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games. With the minimal; or halted sporting activity due to the pandemic situation the players are under pressure. Hockey India (HI) has made all arrangements so that the players focus only on the game. HI works with the Union Sports Ministry and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to ensure it. Veteran star Sardar Singh when talking with a fraternity expressed his thoughts as, "There are a lot of positive changes that have been implemented by HI since it took over (in 2009)".

The Khel Ratna awardee said about the scientific approach of HI, “There is now plenty of emphasis on diet, mental-preparation and fitness which has really helped the team and has made players self-conscious about what they eat, how they recover and pay attention to their overall fitness”. Ensuring the qualification of Men and Women’s team qualifying for the Olympics was the predominant goal set by HI for it. It was achieved when Men’s team qualified in 2012, 2016 and the women’s team in 2016. In the 2021 Olympics, both the team will rock the field."I believe the working relationship that HI has established with SAI and ensuring that they follow all the protocols and paperwork required by SAI to clear our tours and competitions has also been the key,” said Sardar. Sardar felt advance preparation of ACTC is the main reason for success.

Talking about HI league, Sardar said, "It helped players raise the bar. It was a big platform to groom young talent. Spending more than a month with world class foreign players did a lot of good as we could see personally how they go about their game, preparation and mental makeup, body language, etc. I feel this experience has helped players individually and also as a team”. HI is working in all its effort to bring back the game's glory and to develop the game at domestic and grassroots levels.
