Modi's name will be included in Social reformers' list: Amit Shah on Triple Talaq Bill

NEW DELHI:  Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's name will be included in the list of great reformers in the country for ending Triple Talaq. 

Speaking at Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation's event, Shah said, "I believe that the name of Narendra Modi will be added into the list of reformers in the country as he ended the historic wrong Triple Talaq."  He further said,  those who have opposed the Triple Talaq legislation on the floor of House, knew that its an evil practice.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that triple talaq was a social practice and there is no doubt about it. 

Speaking at Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation's event on "Abolition of Triple Talaq: Correcting a historic wrong", Shah said, triple talaq could be criminalised due to the will power of PM Modi as he equated him with other leading social reformers of the country, whose contributions shaped an egalitarian and democratic society. Shah defended the law criminalising triple talaq, asserting that it establishes gender equality.
