NEW DELHI: The Union home ministry announced on Tuesday that it has begun a mission to fill vacancies in its various departments, in accordance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's directive to hire 10 lakh workers across all central government agencies over the next year and a half.
PM Modi's directive came after a review of the state of human resources in all government agencies and ministries, PMO said. "In keeping with PM @narendramodi's directions to carry out 10 lakh recruitments in all GOI Deptts and Ministries over 1.5 years, Ministry of Home Affairs has commenced measures to fill vacancies in Mission Mode," a spokeswoman for the home ministry said in a tweet.
The government's decision comes amid the opposition's frequent criticism of the issue of unemployment. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, said the prime minister has made a significant people-centric decision that will boost the employment situation and provide hope and optimism to India's youth.
Taking to Twitter, Jitendra Singh wrote: "A crucial people-centric decision by Prime Minister Sh @narendramodi that would boost the employment situation and instil hope and confidence in India's young." In the next 1.5 years, the government would provide employment to 10 lakh people in a mission manner."
