The First Upper Sessions Court in Hoshangabad on Monday sentenced to death for raping and murdering a five-year-old girl in Piparia police station area about nine months ago. The prosecution in the case was defended by District Public Prosecution Officer Govind Shah.

District Public Prosecution Officer Govind Shah informed that a five-year-old girl was playing in the courtyard of her house at noon on October 30, 2018, in Piparia, a town close to Hoshangabad, while a resident of Sandia Road Pipraia, 21-year-old Deepak aka Nannu Kirar came there and lured the girl with chocolates and toys and took her on a bicycle to a deserted place where she was raped and later strangled to death. The next day, the girl's body was recovered from the bushes and the police registered a case against the unidentified accused and launched an investigation into the case.

During the investigation, the police arrested Deepak aka Nanhu on suspicion and questioned him strictly, admitting to raping and killing the girl and then the police produced the charge sheet in the court. Singh delivered his verdict in the case on Monday and sentenced the accused Deepak aka Nanhu to death.
