Kochi: A case of rape of a physically and mentally challenged girl in front of her mother has come to light in Malappuram district of Kerala. The victim's mother is suffering from paralysis. The name of the accused is Muttalan Shihab and he has been arrested by the police. There are already many cases registered against Shihab. The victim's family fears that the accused will take revenge on them after being released from jail. The incident is being told of February 22 (Tuesday).
According to the reports, the incident took place in Kavanur of Arikode in Malappuram district. The accused had entered the victim's house at around 2 pm through the door of the tenants. He pressed the victim's mouth and nose and threatened her to keep quiet. Somehow she escaped from the hands of the accused, but the accused chased her and caught her and raped her. After the rape, he also threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
It is being told that the Divyang victim was harassed by the accused even 3 months ago, when she could not raise her voice due to fear. The victim lives with and takes care of her seriously ill mother. The victim's mother could not even get up from the bed due to paralysis. Ailing mother is just crying after her daughter's rape. The BJP's Kerala unit condemned the incident saying, 'Her daughter was raped in front of ailing mother in Malappuram. This is sad. This incident is proof that anything can happen in Kerala.
